Activities in Samoa
Samoa offers water sports of all kinds, including jet skiing on a lagoon, jumping off waterfalls, and snorkelling and diving among stunning marine life. Fishing charters usually guarantee a good haul of fish and even swimming in the tropical waters is a delight.

Papase'ea Sliding Rocks
A must-see attraction within 6km of central Apia (take a bus or a taxi). A small entry fee is required. There is a 5m rock slide down a waterfall into a deep, freshwater pool.

Piula Cave Pool
Located just after Saoluafata, the pool is ideal for swimming, snorkelling and picnicking. The entrance is through the gates to the Piula Methodist Theological College.

Troppo Fishing Adventures Samoa

There’s plenty to do ashore in Samoa. Try hiking through mountain rainforests to a pretty waterfall, look over the tropical rainforest from the Falealupo canopy walkway, visit the grave of Robert Louis Stevenson and the excellent museum devoted to his life, and shop for traditional handicrafts.
Aopo Conservation Area
Village guides conduct a short walk to the Aopo lava cave. Serious hikers can be guided to the summit of Mount Silisili on a one-day walk.

There are several places of interest around the Cape, including an ancient star mound, which you’ll need a local guide to find.

Salelologa Market
This market, near the wharf for ferries between Upolu and Savaii islands, is a good place to buy tropical fruits, vegetables and all sorts of local produce.

Lava Caves
Interesting caves include Peapea (Letui), which is home to the white-rumped swiftlet, and Paia Dwarf's Cave (the main cave is over 1km long). The latter visit requires a full day and a guide should be engaged.

Pe'ape'a Cave
You'll need a torch, plenty of water, and some hiking experience to explore this lava tube. The track (2.5–3 hrs walk) begins at the Togitogiga Falls carpark.

Tour operators
If you don’t wish to get involved with too much trip planning, there are tour operators who can to guide you around the islands and provide you with an insight into, and information on, the attractions. Check at the tourist information centres for tour prices and departure times. Note that many tours are seasonal.
Festivals and Events
Samoa has an active events calendar, from sporting activities including game fishing and the yearly international rugby test matches, to the spectacular yearly rise of the Palolo reef worm. The two main festivals in Samoa, both held in Apia, are the Tuila Festival in early September, which showcases Samoan and Pacific culture, and the Jazz Festival.
